Dressed to the Nines

When it comes to fancy events, many are left asking: What do I wear? Well we talked to some of our local experts and this editorial's models and asked them to share some of their tips on dressing for black tie events.

Nadya has great advice on how to start building your ensemble, "My advice would be to focus on the single thing that makes you feel the most confident, and build from there. Whether it's wearing the hottest stilettos, a figure flattering dress, or something as simple as bold lipstick, accentuating your favorite feature is the easiest way to build a look that will have you glowing at any event.”

“I generally take a bold approach with my outfit choices, as well as with my hair and makeup for formal events. Living in Utah, attending a black-tie event is a rare occasion, so playing it safe just isn't an option for me. Go big or go home!”

Wearing a simpler dress and want to glam it up? Mallory tells us she “…would wear something simple but accessorize with a bang! Either wearing a super dramatic lip, a unique clutch or have a very ornate hair do.”

Kaitlyn Towner explains that accessories, like her dainty Katie Waltman earrings, are the icing on the cake. “I think you can make almost any outfit look glam with the right accessories. Jewelry and shoes are a huge part of that as well as things like your hair and makeup. You can be a little bit more bold and over the top with all that if your dress is less formal. It's all in the details!"

So what tips do we have for the gentlemen? Mallory advises a “…fitted back suit with either a bow tie or skinny tie! Old Hollywood glam. YUM!”
